Permit Delays In Egypt March 18, 2011—Egypt’s new Minister of Manpower has formed a taskforce to audit the country’s work permit system. In order to avoid interfering with the audit, the Ministry has temporarily stopped adjudicating pending work permit applications and accepting new applications. As part of this audit, employers in Egypt should expect an increase in on-site labor inspections. The audit is being conducted in light of the recent events in Egypt and is part of a plan to articulate new employment policies that will help curb the nation’s unemployment levels. Further updates will be provided as they become available. |
