VAT Applicable in Shanghai December 27, 2011— The China State Tax Bureau has announced that VAT will be applicable to companies in Shanghai, effective January 1, 2012. Shanghai will be the initial pilot city for the VAT program, with potential national roll out for a VAT China-wide in the future.
