Temp Visa Holders Have Two Years to Apply for Perm Status November 22, 2011— On November 17th, the Ministry of Justice in Brazil facilitated the content of the Technical Note, elaborated by the Foreigners Department, clarifies holders of the temporary work visa with a local labor contract, valid for two years, must apply for a permanent visa by the end of this first two year period. This change to permanent visa might be conditioned to the execution of the work contact for up to another two years. By the end of this second period of two years, the identity card (RNE) must be replaced. While the permanent visa is still conditioned, the foreign worker will not be able to be a legal representative of the Brazilian Company, but his dependents will have freedom to work in Brazil. |
