Updates on Procedures in Romania
January 5, 2012— The Romanian government has approved work quotas for 2012 and established a new category of work permits for Highly Qualified Workers (Blue card), with 1000 permits available.
Some of the advantages granted by the Blue Card in Romania are:
| - |
- Shorter immigration process - no need to complete Stage 1 - WFD certificate and Advertising
|
| - |
Express processing of the WP request -15 days instead of 30 days for regular WPs |
| - |
Extended validity period - the Blue Card is issued for the period of validity of the employment contract plus 3 months, but not more than 2 years; considering an employment contract with unlimited period, the extension of the Blue Card should be made every 2 years instead of every year extension as required for a temporary residence permit for local employees |
| - |
Benefits for expats residing in several EU countries - the Blue Card holder is allowed to cumulate the periods of stay in various EU states in order to fulfill the conditions regarding the minimum stay period for obtaining a long term residency permit ( i.e. 5 years) |
| - |
Direct access to Family Reunion process - family reunion procedure can be accessed regardless if assignee's residence right meets the one-year condition |
